Iowa State Suffer's an Early Exit

After finishing the season with five straight double digit deficit come from behind victories in rout to a Big 12 Tournament Championship, many expected the Iowa State Cyclone's to make a deep run in this year's tournament. Sadly Iowa State was not able to live up to the high expectations and fell short in a hard fought 60-59 loss to the UAB Blazers on Thursday in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The 3 seeded Cyclone's came in to the game as heavy favorites and were projected to win by double digits. Number 14 seed  UAB was able to contain Iowa State's high scoring offense and held them to just 28 first half points and led at half 31-28. In a close second half UAB was able to close the game on a 9-4 run and went on to win 60-59. The Blazer's offense was led by junior guard Robert Brown who was able to who scored 21 points to lead all scorers. UAB's defense limited Iowa State's star forward Georges Niang to just 11 points on 4-15 shooting. Offensively  Iowa State shot just 37% from the field and 26% from behind the arc. With the win UAB will advance to the round of 32 to face the UCLA Bruins.
